Next week we’ll be celebrating being in my office 43 years. Things have changed in the world of perio as we all realize that patients are no longer coming to us from referring doctors. As a result of the things that I have learned from Lee Sheldon and the guidance that he has provided, we are now independent of the dentists in the community. As a result of the things he has taught me and things like our magazine, 90% of the patients that we treat today do not come from dentists. Now I’ve become the source of new patients to the dentists that I choose to work with in my community. This is an amazing, amazing feeling, different from what we had in the previous 40 years in practice. Now we are independent, the masters of our own destiny. I look forward to doing this for many, many more years in the future.
